It has been a fun week. This is a list of a few things we did this week.
* painted a picture of a jack o lantern using yellow and red paint * made a picture of the five little pumpkins sitting on a fence * carved a pumpkin and took the seeds out to examine them * measured how many pumpkins tall we were (made a class book)
Last week we worked with apples. We tasted and made a graph of which flavor we liked the best. On Friday we made applesauce with apples that the children brought. We put them in a crockpot in the morning with sugar and cinnamon and before we went home we enjoyed our applesauce. This week we will be doing different experiments with pumpkins.
We had our fall carnival yesterday and it was a big success. I want to thank all the parents for coming. I saw a dinosaur, mermaid, and some princess, the kids looked great. Monday we have no school but on Tuesday we start the week strong working on sounds of the alphabet, numbers 6-10, and discovering plants. We will also be doing experiments with apples and on Friday we will make apple sauce (don't forget your peeled and cut apple).
I am finished testing for TPRI. I will begin working with children in small groups starting Monday. I will be looking at test results and helping children with theiralphabet, phonemic awareness and rhyming. Hobbs will have our first Fall Carnival on Saturday I hope to see everyone there. Here is a great website to help your child. http://www.literacycenter.net/lessonview_en.htm
We are studying living and nonliving in science. In language arts we are working on the parts of the book and rhymes. In Social Studies we are learning about Columbus. We will also be learning the months of the year and number six. I will be testing the children for the next two weeks using the TPRI.
We will be sharing our daily activities and upcoming activities with you. This is a resource for parents and family members to use to stay caught up with what your child is doing in kindergarten. Please come back often and I will continue to update frequently.
