We worked all week on making a story map after each read aloud as a whole group. I wrote and the children told me who the characters where, the setting, problem and solution of each story. On Friday I read "The Rainbow Fish" and then they had to make their own story map. Of course not every student could write the sentences so I would talk with them to make sure the understood the concept and had them draw a detailed picture.

Thanks for posting this idea on story mapping. This past month I have been using a graphic organizer during a whole group activity to story map our focus books of the week. Your activity is a perfect way to extend the activity!
BTW....love your new blogger template.
Great idea b/c we are just working on this idea with our fairy tales and these bookmarks! http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Reading-Retelling-Bookmarks Thanks for taking the time to share pictures!
